This version is called 8 Ball Pro. It uses the standard rules of eight-ball pool, so if you have played on a real table you will know exactly what to do.
How to Play 8 Ball Pool
- Choose a mode: player vs computer or player vs player.
- Break. The first shot breaks the triangle of balls.
- Get your group. After the break, the first ball you pot decides whether you play solids (1–7) or stripes (9–15).
- Pot all your balls. Keep shooting as long as you pot one of your own balls.
- Sink the 8 ball. When all your balls are gone, pot the black 8 ball to win.

8 Ball Pool Rules
Eight-ball is played with a white cue ball and fifteen numbered balls. One player shoots solids (1–7), the other stripes (9–15). You keep your turn every time you legally pot one of your own balls. When you miss, it's your opponent's turn. The black 8 ball must be the last ball you pot. Potting it too early, or potting it together with the cue ball, means you lose the game.Common Fouls
- Scratch: potting the white cue ball.
- Wrong ball first: the cue ball must hit one of your own balls first.
- No contact: the cue ball doesn't hit any ball.
- Early 8 ball: potting the black before your group is cleared loses the game.
Game Modes
Player vs Computer
Play against a computer opponent to practise shots and learn the rules at your own pace.Player vs Player
Challenge a friend on the same computer or tablet, taking turns to shoot. It's a perfect 2 player game for home or school breaks.8 Ball Pool Tips and Tricks
- Use less power. Most shots need only gentle power; hard shots make the cue ball fly around.
- Think about the next shot. Try to leave the cue ball where you can easily pot your next ball.
- Pick easy balls first, but clear balls blocking pockets early.
- Avoid the 8 ball. Don't knock the black near a pocket unless you are ready to sink it.
- Play safe when there's no good shot: leave the cue ball somewhere difficult for your opponent.
Beginner Guide
Start against the computer. Practise straight shots into the corner pockets first, then try angled shots by aiming at the side of the ball you want to hit. Watch the guide line and adjust slowly. After a few games you will learn how hard to hit and where the cue ball goes after each shot, which is the real secret of pool. Why Players Love It
Pool is easy to start but takes a long time to master. Your first goal is just to pot a ball, but soon you start thinking about angles, spin and where the cue ball will stop. That feeling of steadily getting better keeps players coming back. Each game only takes a few minutes, so it fits easily into a short break. Having both a computer opponent and a 2 player mode on one device means you can practise alone and then challenge a friend sitting next to you. The relaxing pace makes it a nice change from fast action games. Is It Good for Kids?
Yes. Pool is a calm, non-violent sports game that helps kids practise angles, planning and patience. The player vs player mode is played on one device, so children play with friends or family next to them. More advice for families is on our Information for Parents page.
