How to Play Getaway Shootout

1. Pick a mode: 1 Player, 2 Players on the same keyboard, or Time Trial to practise.
2. Jump left or right to move. Hold the key longer to jump further.
3. Grab weapons and power-ups that appear along the way, like guns and bombs.
4. Use them to slow down your rivals and knock them back.
5. Reach the getaway spot first. Only the first player to get there wins the round.

Hold a jump key longer for a bigger jump. On an iPad or tablet, use the on-screen buttons that the game shows for touch play.

Game Modes

1 Player

Race against computer opponents. Win rounds to earn coins and unlock new characters.

2 Players

Share one keyboard with a friend and race against each other and the computer at the same time.

Time Trial

Practise each map on your own and try to beat your best time.

Weapons and Power-Ups

Weapons appear as you race. You can find things like sniper rifles, shotguns and bombs. Each one can knock a rival back or make them fall, so grabbing a weapon at the right moment can turn a losing round into a win. Use them quickly: holding on to a weapon while your rivals pass you does not help.

Maps

Each round takes place on a different map, such as rooftops, moving vehicles and platforms high above the ground. Some parts of the map move or fall away, so you have to watch where you land as well as where your rivals are. Learning each map in Time Trial mode makes a big difference, because you will know which jumps are safe and where the shortcuts are.

Characters

There are over 30 characters to unlock with the coins you earn. They change how your racer looks, so you can pick a favourite and show it off in 2 player matches.

Getaway Shootout Tips and Tricks

• Short jumps keep you balanced. Long jumps are fast but easy to flip over on.
• Grab weapons on the way. Don't go out of your way for them, but pick them up when they are close.
• Shoot the leader. Knock back whoever is closest to the getaway spot.
• Watch moving platforms and vehicles. Some maps have parts that move, so time your jumps.
• Learn the maps in Time Trial. Knowing the route is half the win.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Holding jump too long: you overshoot and fall.
• Fighting instead of racing: only the first to escape wins, so keep moving.
• Jumping into the gap: watch the edge of each platform before you land.

Playing With a Friend

In 2 player mode, Player 1 uses W, E and R and Player 2 uses I, O and P. You both race against the computer racers too, so even the player who is behind can still steal the win at the last second.

Is Getaway Shootout Good for Kids?

It's a cartoon action game with simple pixel-style characters and slapstick falls. There is shooting with cartoon weapons but no blood.
