The Rules of Klondike
- On the table, place cards in descending order: King, Queen, Jack, 10 and so on.
- Colours must alternate: red on black, black on red.
- Only a King can go into an empty column.
- Build the four foundations by suit, from Ace up to King.
Controls
| Action | PC / Chromebook | iPad / tablet |
|---|---|---|
| Move a card | Click and drag | Tap and drag |
| Draw from the deck | Click the deck | Tap the deck |
The Layout
The game starts with seven columns on the table. Each column has one face-up card on top, with hidden cards underneath. The rest of the cards wait in the deck. When you move the top card away, the card below flips over, so uncovering hidden cards is the key to winning.
A Winning Strategy
- Uncover hidden cards in the biggest columns first.
- Move Aces and Twos to the foundations straight away.
- Don't empty a column unless you have a King ready for it.
- Think before drawing: check the table for moves first.
Common Mistakes
Many players send cards to the foundations too early. Sometimes a low card is still needed on the table to hold a column together. Another common mistake is moving cards just because you can, without asking whether it uncovers anything new. Every move should help free a hidden card or prepare a space.
Why Solitaire Is So Popular
Solitaire has been one of the most played computer games for decades. It is calm, it has no timer and every game is different. You can play a quick round in a few minutes, and it gently trains planning, patience and pattern spotting. Solitaire Legend keeps all of that with a simple, friendly design.
If a game becomes impossible, just start a new deal: some layouts can't be solved, and that is part of the fun.
A Short History
Patience card games have been played for over 200 years, long before computers. Klondike became famous worldwide when it was included on home computers in the early 1990s, and it has been a favourite ever since. Solitaire Legend continues that tradition with smooth controls that work on any device.
